Combating Diabetes

Dr. Cuevas was recently honored with appointment as a Deputy Minister of Health of the Mexican Government

Directly addressing the suffering of cancer and diabetes patients is a foremost priority of The Alfred Family Foundation and Rhino Family Trusts.  The Alfred Family Foundation and Rhino Family Trusts are prepared to directly fund a life and cost savings pilot program of the Mexican Government Social Security Department to end the need for diabetic amputations through the use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO-T).  Mexican diabetic amputees receive a $14,000 annual lifetime disability benefit.  Annual medical expense cost savings from this program will very early net hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings.  The pilot program has the interest and support of CARPHA:  Caribbean Public Health Agency and CARICOM: Caribbean Community Heads of Government (20 nations’ population: 17,064,000).  The program will be monitored and studied by Caribbean and Latin American nations for implementation as soon as equipment may be received.

The pilot program requires two HBO chambers, each weighing 2,850 pounds at an estimated combined cost of $400,000.  The Alfred Family Foundation and Rhino Family Trusts looks forward to collaborating with the US Military Southern Command’s Public-Private Partnership Business Directorate for the delivery of these chambers, as well as, other goods and heavy equipment necessary to the middle class nation building initiatives of this program.

Supporting Veterans with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for TBI and PTSD

Sadly, due to the consequence of war, brave men and women of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard cope with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  Returning personnel deal with insomnia, anxiety, depression, flashbacks and often speech impediments developed as a result of these conditions.

The Alfred Family Foundation is determined to make a proactive difference in the provision of care for our returning veterans.  We have partnered with some of the very best surgeons, chiropractors and professional massage therapists, pain management physicians, occupational and physical therapists, world-class dentistry, labs and diagnostic imaging.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a critically proven mode of therapy for Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  The Alfred Family Foundation’s lead collaborative partner in delivering Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is the Neubauer Clinic of Fort Lauderdale, FL.  Located centrally between two Veterans’ Affairs Hospitals (Miami and Palm Beach), the Neubauer Clinic is perfectly suited to deliver comprehensive and effective care for our most deserving of citizen warriors.

Collaboratively, we act as a first-line-of-health evaluation and only when medically necessary will make appointments and referrals to the right field experts for specialist care. Treatment begins at our medical facility and data is collected.  Periodic reviews of the success to failure rates are conducted.  During this time, cost effectives, patient satisfaction, patient compliance, complications of therapy, and other key program indicators will be tracked.

Our use of media coverage will include not only reporting on the progress of our center, but also the support provided by various teams of activist organizations and medical providers.  We intend to produce a documentary video demonstrating the treatment of veterans to increase awareness and secure additional support for struggles and hardships faced by our veterans in their return to society.  By making this a nationally recognized program, supporters will have an opportunity to contribute to our success which will ultimately provide the necessary care for our veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country.
