The Born Thinking Pink Cancer Awareness benefit Concert will feature almost 30 of the music industry’s most famous and recognizable artists.

The Foundation is committed to saving and improving lives of people affected by breast cancer. The affiliate is a fund raising organization that provides grants to organizations and medical clinics in our community that serve individuals in all countries, addressing all ages and economic backgrounds, while placing special emphasis on the medically underserved.

This concert is to commemorate our sister Annmarie Alfred L'Etang's diagnosis of Breast Cancer while being six (6) weeks pregnant on January 26, 2007 and the death of our father Clement F. Alfred on June 2, 2004 after having succumb to prostate cancer after 15 months. Proceeds from this Benefit Concert will go toward cancer treatment and awareness.

A top industry sensation will open the Concert for Cancer Awareness in fall of 2018. The concert will be held on six different continents. It will start off in North America at the Yankee Stadium and then to Germany, England, the Caribbean, South Africa, Japan and will end back in the USA in Los Angeles California. These mega artists will work together with different collaborations to create a spectacular show while dazzling the audience with their technical diversity. We will be showcasing a special segment where young unknown and struggling artists will make a guest appearance on behalf of the struggle.

Our Agenda is to donate to different nonprofit organizations committed to raising money for cancer care, research and awareness of the disease among young and old. We hope that our efforts will not only expedite the eventual discovery of a cure for the disease, but that our awareness-raising will result in earlier detection, as well as an understanding of where to go for support and resources if ever faced with a cancer diagnosis.

For all of the strides that have been made in the fight against breast cancer, young professionals have remained largely under engaged and underutilized in the search for a cure. We’re endeavoring to change that by raising money, raising awareness, and raising the bar by performing worldwide. That’s our basic agenda.

One out of eight women living in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer which accounts for nearly one-third of cancer cases. Regular screening tests are recommended for every woman, as early detection can lower ones risk of dying from cancer.  We are hoping that more persons will go for screenings after each of our concerts.  The Born Thinking Pink Cancer Awareness Concert will help get us much closer to finding a cure for Breast Cancer as most of its proceed will be donated to help benefit the Breast Cancer Research at different Cancer Institutes. We will also donate to Breast Cancer Research Programs that investigates ways to improve treatments, early detection, and are exploring ways to improve the diagnosis and control of breast cancer.  We want to focus on offering women an invaluable resource for Breast Cancer awareness, detection, treatment and research. In a few years, we will become a leader in the field, providing a model for cancer around the globe.

FIGHTING BREAST CANCER WITH CONCERTS

Annmarie Alfred Letang, 43 years old, hasn't let Breast Cancer stop her from rocking out and working harder. In fact, you might say the Dominican mother of three is rocking even harder these days because of Breast Cancer. She has gotten a new passion for life and has dedicated her life to accepting and sharing the challenges, obstacles, the course and having a positive outlook of climbing that mountain of the gift called life.

After Annmarie was diagnosed, she had a Radical Mastectomy of her left breast done in March, 2007 and then started chemotherapy in April of 2007 while pregnant (every 3 weeks) for 72 hours at a time. Her baby was born cancer free with no complications on July 25th 2007 while she continued chemo in August 2007 every three weeks until October 2007. She then started radiation for weeks, everyday from October to December 2007 and travels to Miami Florida every three months to have a routine check-up to see her Oncologist and Breast Surgeon. Annmarie and baby Jaylene are now both cancer-free and attribute this to the use of a number of dietary and 'alternative' treatments, in conjunction with chemo-therapy. WITH EARLY DETECTION AND INFORMATION, CANCER DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A 'DEATH SENTENCE'.  Keeping a positive outlook and some small lifestyle changes are the key to recovery, and may be the key to PREVENTION!

As a result of her own fight with stage 3 metastatic breast cancer, Annmarie has become a powerful role model and advocate. With the help of her brother Victor Alfred, Annmarie founded The Alfred Family  Foundation and a movement/campaign called BORN THINKING PINK.

THE NAME BORN THINKING PINK.

I was always involved with projects and events, but never something of this magnitude. I was attending a Give Pink event at Bloomingdales and someone asked me if I was thinking of giving pink today and I said sure. Right after that, I thought of baby Jaylene who was born while her mother was taking chemotherapy.  That’s how the name ‘Born Thinking Pink’ came to life. I knew that when she was finished with her treatment her life would never be the same again, and that she was going to dive right in and spend her time raising funds for breast cancer treatment and awareness.

We wanted to find a way to reach out and bring something educational and life-saving to our family, friends and the world. We knew of other breast cancer organizations around the world but none in our community or the Caribbean as a whole that made a global impact, so we felt that we needed to bring our story and passion to everyone, young and not so young generations together. In October 2009, we founded BORN THINKING PINK. Our mission is to raise awareness about early detection for all cancers with a heavy focus on breast cancer, also genetic testing and to provide funding for screening, treatment and research. We will have brunches, luncheons, community concerts portraying talents within communities and other small events along with our main event which will be our “world super concert”.

CONCEIVING THE LUNCH OF THE BORN THINKING PINK CONCERTS

We felt that with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, there were so many walks and luncheons that it was difficult to attend everything both financially and emotionally. While the speakers are filled with knowledge and encouraging stories, people often feel emotionally drained at the end of the affair. We knew we needed to change things up. With music being something that people of all ages can enjoy and families can experience together, we had the idea of doing a super concert. The BORN THINKING PINK concert was born. It was an incredible way to bring people of all walks of life together to celebrate the strides being made, and to celebrate life and all the survivors. It was also an opportunity to allow us to reach millions of people at once. Most of the proceeds from BORN THINKING PINK concert will go to cancer organizations.

WHAT MAKES BORN THINKING PINK DIFFERENT OR UNIQUE FROM OTHER ORGANIZATIONS FOCUSED ON CANCER AWARENESS

We all want to work together for this great cause that touches us so deeply. We are a young and small organization wanting and willing to do very big things to make a BIG difference and raise awareness about breast cancer and the breast cancer gene (BRCA) and early detection. We are also different in that the money raised will be donated to many different breast cancer organizations. The organizations we chose to donate to, have in one way or another, touched one of our lives personally: Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York; BRCH Women's Center for Breast Care; The American Cancer Society / Making Strides Against Breast Cancer; Reach Global / Jacob International; The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation; The H.O.P.E. Project; Women with Heart; The Anguilla Cancer Society; University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and The Susan G. Komen Cancer Organization which is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, we’re working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.

WHEN OUR CONCERTS ARE OVER, WE WILL SWITCH OUR FOCUS.

The Alfred Family Cancer Foundation will also provide special recognition in the years to come to children with cancer, giving them hope through heart-felt performances with poignant lyrics, lots of motivational songs and beautiful music through our concerts.  Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a time to really focus on the importance of eradicating breast cancer. This fatal disease affects many in the Caribbean and around the world and we want to do all we can to help spread the message through our foundation.

We encourage all to participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month events during the month of October. Annmarie Alfred Letang, president of the Born Thinking Pink campaign an affiliate of The Alfred Family Cancer Foundation said that the proceeds from all Born Thinking Pink events held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month benefits the foundation and help us carry out our mission to increase breast cancer education, screening and treatment in the Caribbean and throughout the world. The contributions and involvement from our local community members are what will allow us to provide different organizations with the research and education programs necessary to continue the fight against breast cancer.

“THE ALFRED FAMILY CANCER FOUNDATION BENEFIT CONCERT” is an organization which thrives on promoting knowledge, power, hope, and devotion to anyone affected by cancer. Each year, “Born Thinking Pink Concert for Cancer” will chose a different cancer fighting organization to assist and not only raise monies for them, but raise overall cancer awareness in our community. We would like to make a difference in every family’s life by providing the support both financially and voluntary, with the help of our friends and neighbors. One in three people are affected by cancer in their lifetime and with your help, we can find a cure.

We keep this flame in memory of those who have left us. Let everyone who has passed be in our hearts and remembered for all eternity. We will strive to become the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against cancer in the world.

Join us in sharing the info and spreading the HOPE - and have a blast while doing it!
